What exactly is the Golden Paint Brush Award you might ask!?
Every student has the opportunity to win the Golden Paint Brush Award every 9 weeks.
How can I win the Golden Paint Brush Award!?
The Golden Paint Brush Award is a Golden Paint Brush that will be given to one homeroom teacher per grade as an incentive towards great classroom behavior. As a class, students will be rated every day in art class on a scale of 5 points. For example, each grade level has 2 homeroom teachers. 2nd grade class A will be competing with 2nd grade class B for the award. Which ever class has the most points by the end of the 9 week period will be the winners of the Golden Paint Brush Award.
To earn 5 points, I'm looking for students to achieve the qualities of a Golden Classroom!
A Golden Classroom has...
**Attentive Listeners**
**Positive Attitudes**
**Outstanding Efforts**
**Helping Hands**
**Patience**
Every classroom has this hanging up for each student to remind themselves of the qualities I am looking for in each class.
A way I like to control the NOISE level in my classroom is another visual display I have created seen below.
Personally, I do not like shouting over the students when they have the ability to talk as they create their artwork. Giving the student freedom to talk with their peers when they are in the process of creating the artwork helps them connect with what they are creating in a personal way (what are they making? why are they making it? who or what is this project about?)
When the students' level of NOISE gets just a bit too noisy, I will proceed to take down the letter E. Students know that this is just a warning and should remind their peers to quiet down. If the students are still too noisy, then the following letters will be removed throughout the period of the class.
If there is no more NOISE on the wall, there will be no more NOISE in class! Students will work silently for the rest of the period.
Every homeroom teacher has a special chart so their class can see their progress throughout the year!
Below I will post who the Golden Paint Brush Winners are at the end of every 9 weeks! Let the competition to be a GOLDEN CLASSROOM begin!
